Calcium in natural stone reacts to any type of acid.Lots of products we consumed in drinks and food are acidic. If you look close to the before picture you can see a whitish hue, this is called an etch mark. This damage needs to be removed with diamond abrasives and brought back to the current sheen with a polishing agent.
