Problem: Epoxy coating coming up
The epoxy coating on this concrete floor in a very busy Naples, FL fire station apparatus bay was worn and completely missing in some spots. Due to the continuous use of the facility, specialized equipment, chemicals, and other considerations, proper upkeep and maintenance of the facility is necessary for the health and safety of those who work there.
Solution: Removal of problem epoxy, prepare concrete for re-coating
First, we masked and protected the surrounding area, including the firefighters' cleaning and maintenance areas, vehicle exhaust removal systems, storage areas, compressed air and power drop lines, and hot and cold water connections. Then, we repaired small holes and cracks and ground the uppermost layer of the concrete to completely remove soils, contaminants, and leftover coatings. By the time we finished our work, this floor was essentially a clean slate, completely prepared for a new application of epoxy coating.
